Parade
GoApex Route 1 and GoCary Route 9 will operate on a detour on Saturday,
December 6th from 1:00pm until the end of service at 10:00pm. Both routes will
not be servicing bus stops that conflict with planned road closures annotated
in the map below.
Detour information and stops impacted is listed below for the two respective
routes:
Outbound: After departing Mason Street Municipal Building and servicing the
Apex Senior Center, Route 1 will travel south and make temporary stops at
North Mason Street and East Chatham Street and at South Hughes Street and East
Williams Street before returning to its regular routing.
Inbound: Upon returning to the Downtown Apex area, Route 1 will detour from
East Williams Street and service temporary stops at East Williams Street and
South Hughes Street and at East Chatham Street and North Mason Street before
returning to the Mason Street Municipal Building.

Route 9 will exclusively travel along Laura Duncan Road for both inbound and
outbound service to and from Downtown Cary. Route 9 will continue to service

GoApex Route 1 will operate on a detour on Tuesday, November 11th for the
bus trips beginning at 9:00am and 10:00am. A portion of Salem Street in
Downtown Apex between Chatham Street to Center Street will be closed for the
Veterans Day Ceremony.

one at the corner of Elm and Chatham St., and one at the corner of Elm and
Center St. It will then turn right onto Center St., back to it's regular

Beginning on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, GoCary will be launching their new
Route 9, which will replace the Apex-Cary Express (ACX) Route and provide more
frequent connections. In conjunction with the launch of Route 9, GoApex will
be making minor adjustments to the GoApex Route 1 schedule to facilitate
transfer connections for riders. Both GoApex and GoCary routes will remain
fare-free for all riders.
GoCary Route 9 will include 30 stops between downtown Cary and downtown Apex
and will travel along High House Road, Old Apex Road, and North Salem Street.
Route 9 will offer frequent service to neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and
shopping centers.

To facilitate smooth transfers to and from GoCary Route 9, GoApex Route 1 will

The bus will now start all trips from Mason Street Municipal Building at the

GoApex Route 1 will detour off of N. Salem Street in downtown Apex during the

Street will be subject to intermittent closures for railroad track maintenance
near the intersection with N Salem St. GoApex Route 1 may need to detour

GoApex Route 1 will begin service at 10:00am on Thursday, January 23rd. As of
this time,only GoApex Door to Door chemo and dialysis trips will be honored
on Thursday , and we suggest checking in with any questions about your

GoApex ended service at 6pm on Tuesday, January 21st. GoApex was closed to
service on Wednesday, January 22nd.

January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Update as of 3:30pm on Friday, 1/10/2025 :
Out of an abundance of caution, GoApex services ended at 1pm on Friday,
January 10th ahead of expected adverse weather. This closure includes both
GoApex Route 1 and GoApex Door to Door services (except scheduled Door to Door
dialysis and chemo trips).
Additionally, GoApex Route 1 will operate on a reduced schedule, from 12pm
to 6pm, on Saturday, January 11th. GoApex Door to Door trips scheduled from
8am to 12pm on Saturday will also be honored.

Beginning Monday, August 12th, GoTriangle Route 305 will provide hourly
weekday service between Apex and Raleigh. Service will run from approximately
6:30am to 10:00pm. Service to Holly Springs will operate in both directions
during peak periods only.
Route 305 will also see an alignment extension for more coverage in Holly
Springs. The route will be extended to serve stops near the Shoppes at Holly
Springs and UNC Rex Hospital along S. Main Street in Holly Springs.

GoApex Route 1 and GoApex Door to Door services will not operate on this

Did you know that GoTriangle will be returning to collecting fare payments
soon? That includes GoTriangle Route 305 which serves Apex. Note: GoApex and
GoCary routes will remain fare-free.
After suspending fares during the COVID-19 pandemic, GoTriangle will resume
collection of fares on July 1, 2024 , with new options for passengers that
include digital ticketing on the UMO app, and a convenient pass for income
qualified riders to ride fare-free. Youth (ages 13-18) and seniors (ages 65
and older) will still ride free (as they did pre-pandemic) after they enroll
in one of the GoPass programs that allows them to use the UMO digital
ticketing platform.

in the month of July can be found here.
GoApex Route 1 will need to detour next week, June 17th - 21st, due to a road
closure on Apex Peakway. Apex Peakway will be closed from Ambergate Station to
Grand Central Station**** to complete maintenance work on the Peakway Bridge
over the CSX railroad tracks.
After serving Stop #1165 at Laura Duncan Rd at Vineyard Station, the bus will
turn right on Apex Peakway. The bus will then turn right on Old Raleigh
Rd, and will continue on Hunter Street, across Salem Street, to the normal
routing.

Saturday, June 14th, GoApex Route 1 will follow a detour routing with

A new bus stop is currently under construction at the entrance of the Apex
Senior Center, located at 63 Hunter Street. This bus stop (Stop ID#16093) will
include an accessible landing pad, bench, and bus stop sign. This new bus stop
will replace the stop currently located on Hunter Street (#16000).
Staff are anticipating the new stop to be served starting Saturday, June 15th,
with new paper ride guides available the following week. The bus schedule will
have minor changes to accommodate the new stop as well as the new stop in
front of the Mason Street Municipal Building across the street (#1452).

information on their smartphones. The GoCary app includes GoApex Route 1 and

The app includes features to plan your trip, track your bus, get estimated
arrival times, and see the latest service alerts. You can log-in and save your
favorite stops and routes. It is recommended to enable location services on

The launch of GoApex Route 1 in 2022 was the result of several years of
planning and preparation. The Town's comprehensive transportation plan,
Advance Apex : The 2045 Transportation
Plan, identified other conceptual
transit routes, as shown in the Transit Plan
Map, but it did not set specific priorities beyond
GoApex Route 1. The Apex Transit Prioritization Study, and your input, will
help the Town to phase future transit improvements.

Due to a closure along James Street, GoApex Route 1 will not service the
following stops between Monday, March 18th and Friday, March 29th:

From August through October, local and North Carolina-based artists will be
painting art installations on the pavement at select GoApex bus stops as part
of the GoApex Bus Stop Sidewalk Art Project.
This project aims to enhance the pedestrian experience at bus stops, build
awareness for the GoApex Route 1 service, and provide an opportunity for
public art in Town.
Artists were selected through an open Call for Artists in Spring 2023, which
drew more entries than available art installation bus stops. There may be
minor impacts to some bus stops during installation.

Beginning Monday, November 28th, 2022, Stop #1452, North Mason Street at Old
Mill Village Drive, northbound (across the street from the Town Community
Center) will be closed due to a construction project. A temporary stop will be
added (#16003) at Laura Duncan Rd at Old Raleigh Rd, about a block north. Stop
Benches and trash cans have just arrived for installation at select bus stops!

GoTriangle Route 305: Holly Springs-Apex to Raleigh will have an updated
schedule starting August 8th. This route operates between Holly Springs, Apex,
NC State, and Downtown Raleigh during weekday commute hours. The updated
schedule adds two trips to the route funded by the Wake Transit Plan, pushes
back start of service to 6:34am, and removes morning arrivals and evening
departures in Holly Springs. You can download the updated route brochure

GoApex Route 1 started service on Saturday, July 30th, 2022. The Town is
looking forward to offering this new, free service to the community, and we

Beginning this Spring, the Town of Apex will construct bus stops for our new
transit service, GoApex Route 1. Route 1 is the Town's first local, free bus
service, starting July 30, 2022. Installation at each stop includes, at the
minimum, a bus stop sign and a level concrete pad for boarding and alighting
the bus. Some stops may also receive a bench, trash can, bike racks, light
fixtures, pavement markings, or additional concrete or sidewalk improvements.
Update : Concrete work is nearing completion! Installation of stop
amenities (benches, trash cans, and bike racks) will be delayed until after
service starts. Deliveries are now expected in late September.
GoApex Informational Pop-Up Events - Coming Soon
Apex Town staff will be out and about in Apex this summer to provide
informational materials and answer questions about GoApex Route 1. Feel free
to stop by when you see us around town. If you would like a presentation about

The Town of Apex is planning to bring sidewalk art to twelve new GoApex bus
stops in Spring 2023. We'd like to know what you want to see, as well as any
thoughts or concerns you may have about the project.
The Town plans to issue a Call for Artists in Fall 2022 with installation in
Spring 2023. A selection committee made up of members of the Town of Apex’s
Transit Advisory Committee, Public Art Committee, and Town Staff (Planning,
Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources, and Public Works) will review and
select the artists based on the survey results and applications received.
