Upcoming Holiday Closures - December 24th and 25th, and January 1st

GoApex Route 1 and GoApex Door to Door services will not operate on
Wednesday, December 24th, Thursday December 25th, or Thursday, January 1st.

Winter Weather Notification for Monday and Tuesday, December 8th-9th

Update as of 7:35pm on Monday, 12/08/2025

Due to foreseen weather conditions, GoApex Route 1 will end operations at
4pm today, Monday, December 8th and will plan to start back at 10am
tomorrow, Tuesday, December 9th.

GoApex Door to Door service will only be operating for chemo and dialysis
trips.

Additionally, GoTriangle will end service at 10pm on Monday and will resume
service at 10am on Tuesday, December 9th.

GoWake Access is on a 2-hour delay to begin service, in line with the WCPSS

Transit Detour Notice - Saturday, December 6th - Apex Rotary Christmas

Parade

GoApex Route 1 and GoCary Route 9 will operate on a detour on Saturday,
December 6th from 1:00pm until the end of service at 10:00pm. Both routes will
not be servicing bus stops that conflict with planned road closures annotated
in the map below.

Detour information and stops impacted is listed below for the two respective
routes:

GoApex Route 1

Outbound: After departing Mason Street Municipal Building and servicing the
Apex Senior Center, Route 1 will travel south and make temporary stops at
North Mason Street and East Chatham Street and at South Hughes Street and East
Williams Street before returning to its regular routing.

Inbound: Upon returning to the Downtown Apex area, Route 1 will detour from
East Williams Street and service temporary stops at East Williams Street and
South Hughes Street and at East Chatham Street and North Mason Street before
returning to the Mason Street Municipal Building.

The following bus stops will be closed during the detour:

2025_Christmas Detour Map

GoCary Route 9

Route 9 will exclusively travel along Laura Duncan Road for both inbound and
outbound service to and from Downtown Cary. Route 9 will continue to service
and dwell at the Mason Street Municipal Building.

The following bus stops will be closed during the detour:

Salem Street Detour Notice - Tuesday, November 11th - Veterans Day Ceremony

GoApex Route 1 will operate on a detour on Tuesday, November 11th for the
bus trips beginning at 9:00am and 10:00am. A portion of Salem Street in
Downtown Apex between Chatham Street to Center Street will be closed for the
Veterans Day Ceremony.

The following bus stops will be closed during the detour:

Instead of serving the above stops, the route will serve two temporary stops:
one at the corner of Elm and Chatham St., and one at the corner of Elm and
Center St. It will then turn right onto Center St., back to it's regular
routing

Please keep in mind that during detour events, the bus schedule may be

New GoCary Route 9 Launch &

GoApex Route 1 Schedule Updates!

Beginning on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, GoCary will be launching their new
Route 9, which will replace the Apex-Cary Express (ACX) Route and provide more
frequent connections. In conjunction with the launch of Route 9, GoApex will
be making minor adjustments to the GoApex Route 1 schedule to facilitate
transfer connections for riders. Both GoApex and GoCary routes will remain
fare-free for all riders.

GoCary Route 9 will include 30 stops between downtown Cary and downtown Apex
and will travel along High House Road, Old Apex Road, and North Salem Street.
Route 9 will offer frequent service to neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and
shopping centers.

Route 9 Operating times will be:

To facilitate smooth transfers to and from GoCary Route 9, GoApex Route 1 will
be making minor adjustments to the schedule, as annotated in the table below.
The bus will now start all trips from Mason Street Municipal Building at the
beginning of the hour (:00) instead of nine minutes past the hour (:09). Click

Detour notice: Apex Latino Arts Festival, Saturday, September 27th

Due to road closures in Downtown Apex during the Apex Latino Arts
Festival on Saturday,
September 27th, GoApex Route 1 will follow a detour routing with temporary

GoApex Route 1 is currently detouring around localized flooding on Williams
Street between Salem Street and Hughes Street. During this time, the following
bus stops will not be served:

Apply for a seat on the Apex Multimodal Transportation Advisory Board

Applications are currently being accepted for two open seats on the Apex
Multimodal Transportation Advisory
Board
(MTAB). One open seat is for a regular voting member, and one is specifically
reserved for a Youth voting member (must be at least age 16).

The purpose of the Multimodal Transportation Advisory Board (MTAB) is to
support and expand opportunities for biking, walking, and riding transit as a
means of transportation in the Town of Apex.

Schedule Updates on GoTriangle Route 305 beginning Sunday, August 3rd

Beginning Sunday, August 3rd, GoTriangle Route 305 will begin operating on an
updated schedule. The new ride guide brochure (with map and schedule) can be
found
here.

Route 305 will also see a routing extension in Downtown Raleigh to serve the
new Raleigh Union Station Bus Facility (known as "RUSBUS").

Apex Transit Prioritization Study: Draft Staff Recommendations now out for

Public Comment!

The Apex Transit Prioritization Study is a project to develop a prioritized
list of recommendations for local transit service improvements and expansion
here in Apex. Last year, staff conducted public surveys to gather feedback
from the community. This year, staff have released a draft list of
recommendations, which are now out for public comment through August 3rd,
2025. Update: the comment period is now closed. Thank you for your
interest!

Apex EarthFest - Saturday, April 26th

Apex EarthFest will be held from
12pm-4pm on Saturday, April 26th at Apex's Town Hall Campus at 73 Hunter
Street.

New for 2025! Reimagine your Ride and earn a free treat! The first 50
attendees who take an alternative form of transportation to EarthFest earn a
coupon for Everbowl Açaí Bowls. Alternative types
of transportation include riding the GoApex
Bus, biking, and walking.

Detour Notification - beginning Thursday March 13th, at Center Street

Beginning Thursday, March 13th and lasting approximately 2 to 5 days, Center
Street will be subject to intermittent closures for railroad track maintenance
near the intersection with N Salem St. GoApex Route 1 may need to detour
around this closure. Stay logged in to the GoCary app for real-time service
updates.

Update : Due to the street closure, the GoApex bus is currently turning up
Hughes Street to Mason Street instead of traveling up N Salem St through
downtown. Bus stops that are not currently being served are:

Detour Notification - Saturday, March 8th for Run the Peak

From the start of service at 6:09am up to approximately 11:00am, GoApex Route
1 will be on detour around the Run the
Peak
community event.

During this time, GoApex Route 1 will NOT serve the following stops:

A temporary stop will be located on northbound N Salem St before the left turn
onto Hunter Street and will be available for use during the detour only. This
temporary stop is not the same as the GoCary stop #11372 located close to the
intersection. Please wait at the temporary bus stop sign which will be placed
on the day of the detour.

Detour Notification - Monday, January 27th

Update as of 4:10pm on Monday, 1/27/2025:N. Mason Street has reopened
, and bus stop #1452 is now open for service and the bus is back to it's
regular routing. Thank you for your patience.

GoApex Route 1 operated on a detour between approximately 2pm and 4pm today
due to a road closure on N. Mason Street near bus stop #1452, N. Mason Street
at Old Mill Village Drive/Town Hall Campus. We appreciate your patience as
there may be schedule disruptions during this time.

Additionally, GoTriangle Route 305 may have experienced detours and/or
disruptions during this time as well as Route 305 also travels along N. Mason
Street. Please contact the Regional Transit Information Center at 919-485-RIDE

Winter Weather Notification for Tuesday, January 21st and Wednesday,

January 22nd

Update as of 8:10am on Thursday, 1/23/2025:

GoApex Route 1 will begin service at 10:00am on Thursday, January 23rd. As of
this time,only GoApex Door to Door chemo and dialysis trips will be honored
on Thursday , and we suggest checking in with any questions about your
reservation.

GoApex ended service at 6pm on Tuesday, January 21st. GoApex was closed to
service on Wednesday, January 22nd.

Upcoming Holiday Closure - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - Monday, January

20th

GoApex Route 1 and GoApex Door to Door services will be closed on Monday,
January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Winter Weather Notification for Friday, January 10th and Saturday, January

11th

Update as of 3:30pm on Friday, 1/10/2025 :

Out of an abundance of caution, GoApex services ended at 1pm on Friday,
January 10th ahead of expected adverse weather. This closure includes both
GoApex Route 1 and GoApex Door to Door services (except scheduled Door to Door
dialysis and chemo trips).

Additionally, GoApex Route 1 will operate on a reduced schedule, from 12pm
to 6pm, on Saturday, January 11th. GoApex Door to Door trips scheduled from
8am to 12pm on Saturday will also be honored.

GoApex_PeakFest_Detour_2023

Service Extensions on GoTriangle Route 305 beginning Monday, August 12th

Beginning Monday, August 12th, GoTriangle Route 305 will provide hourly
weekday service between Apex and Raleigh. Service will run from approximately
6:30am to 10:00pm. Service to Holly Springs will operate in both directions
during peak periods only.

Route 305 will also see an alignment extension for more coverage in Holly
Springs. The route will be extended to serve stops near the Shoppes at Holly
Springs and UNC Rex Hospital along S. Main Street in Holly Springs.

Upcoming Holiday Closure - Thursday, July 4th

GoApex Route 1 and GoApex Door to Door services will not operate on this
coming Thursday due to the 4th of July holiday.

Courtesy Notice - GoTriangle returning to fare collection July 1st

Did you know that GoTriangle will be returning to collecting fare payments
soon? That includes GoTriangle Route 305 which serves Apex. Note: GoApex and
GoCary routes will remain fare-free.

After suspending fares during the COVID-19 pandemic, GoTriangle will resume
collection of fares on July 1, 2024 , with new options for passengers that
include digital ticketing on the UMO app, and a convenient pass for income
qualified riders to ride fare-free. Youth (ages 13-18) and seniors (ages 65
and older) will still ride free (as they did pre-pandemic) after they enroll
in one of the GoPass programs that allows them to use the UMO digital
ticketing platform.

Detour notice: Apex Peakway Bridge maintenance, June 17th-21st

GoApex Route 1 will need to detour next week, June 17th - 21st, due to a road
closure on Apex Peakway. Apex Peakway will be closed from Ambergate Station to
Grand Central Station**** to complete maintenance work on the Peakway Bridge
over the CSX railroad tracks.

After serving Stop #1165 at Laura Duncan Rd at Vineyard Station, the bus will
turn right on Apex Peakway. The bus will then turn right on Old Raleigh
Rd, and will continue on Hunter Street, across Salem Street, to the normal
routing.

The route will not serve the following stops during the detour:

Detour notice: Juneteenth Festival, Saturday, June 14th

Due to road closures in Downtown Apex during the Juneteenth festival on
Saturday, June 14th, GoApex Route 1 will follow a detour routing with
temporary stops along Elm St. Detour information is below:

Upcoming GoApex Town Hall Routing Changes

A new bus stop is currently under construction at the entrance of the Apex
Senior Center, located at 63 Hunter Street. This bus stop (Stop ID#16093) will
include an accessible landing pad, bench, and bus stop sign. This new bus stop
will replace the stop currently located on Hunter Street (#16000).

Staff are anticipating the new stop to be served starting Saturday, June 15th,
with new paper ride guides available the following week. The bus schedule will
have minor changes to accommodate the new stop as well as the new stop in
front of the Mason Street Municipal Building across the street (#1452).

Transportation Fair at Habitat ReStore - Saturday, June 1st

Visit the Habitat for Humanity ReStore at 826 E Williams St in Apex this
Saturday from 1-4pm to learn about multimodal transportation options. This
event is sponsored by Habitat for Humanity and GoTriangle. The event will
include free bike tune-ups, giveaways, and a scavenger hunt where attendees
who visit and collect a sticker from each informational booth can enter a
prize drawing.

New GoCary app available for GoApex Route 1 & GoCary routes

GoApex Route 1 riders now have a new option for viewing real-time transit
information on their smartphones. The GoCary app includes GoApex Route 1 and
all GoCary fixed route service. GoApex Route 1 is listed as "GA1".

Search "GoCary" in the Apple and Google Play stores to download the app.

The app includes features to plan your trip, track your bus, get estimated
arrival times, and see the latest service alerts. You can log-in and save your
favorite stops and routes. It is recommended to enable location services on
your phone to use all the features. If you don't want to download the app, you
can visit www.gocarylive.org.

If you ride multiple routes throughout the Triangle, don't worry: the UMO
Mobility app is still available for regional trip planning.

Apex Transit Prioritization Study now underway - participate in the Online

Survey

The Town is working on a Transit Prioritization
Study to help identify the top
priorities for future transit improvements in Apex, and we want your feedback.
Take the online survey now through May
15th! Note: The online survey is now closed.

The launch of GoApex Route 1 in 2022 was the result of several years of
planning and preparation. The Town's comprehensive transportation plan,
Advance Apex : The 2045 Transportation
Plan, identified other conceptual
transit routes, as shown in the Transit Plan
Map, but it did not set specific priorities beyond
GoApex Route 1. The Apex Transit Prioritization Study, and your input, will
help the Town to phase future transit improvements.

James Street Detour and Temporary Stop Closures - March 18th - March 29th

Due to a closure along James Street, GoApex Route 1 will not service the
following stops between Monday, March 18th and Friday, March 29th:

As a detour, the bus will turn left from James Street to Hughes Street, then
left again back to W Williams Street.

Upcoming Holiday Closures - Monday, December 25th and Monday, January 1st

GoApex Route 1 and GoApex Door to Door services will not operate on
Monday, December 25th, due to the Christmas holiday, nor on Monday, January
1st, due to the New Year's Day holiday.

Apex Rotary Christmas Parade Detour Notice - Saturday, December 2nd

Beginning at 3pm and lasting until 8pm on Saturday, December 2nd, several
streets in the Apex downtown area will be closed to traffic for the Apex
Rotary Christmas Parade. Salem Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from
Williams Street/Hwy 55 north to the Apex Peakway, and other partial closures
will be at Apex Peakway, Hunter Street, Center Street, Chatham Street, and W
Moore Street.

With the road closures, GoApex Route 1 is required to use an extensive
alternate route. Please see the map below. During the parade, riders can
access temporary stops (signed as GoTriangle stops) at:

November 23rd, 2023 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The services will
operate on a normal schedule on Friday, November 24th, and Saturday, November
25th.

Salem Street Detour Notice - Saturday, November 11th -Veterans Day Ceremony

GoApex Route 1 will operate on a detour on Saturday, November 11th for the
bus trips beginning at 9:11am and 10:11am. A portion of Salem Street in
Downtown Apex between Chatham Street to Center Street will be closed for the
Veterans Day Ceremony. Instead of traveling from E Williams Street to Salem
Street, the bus will instead turn from East Williams Street to Hughes Street,
then turn right on Chatham Street, left on N Mason Street and back to its
regular route. During the detour, the bus will not serve the following stops:

Town Campus Detour Notice - Tuesday, October 3rd - Touch-A-Truck

GoApex Route 1 will operate it's Town Campus detour on Tuesday, October 3rd
beginning at 3pm as the routing with be closed for the Apex Night Out/Touch-a-
Truck event. GoApex Route 1 will not serve Stop #16000, Hunter Street at Apex
Town Hall Campus, after 3:00pm. The bus will instead will travel directly from
N. Mason St. to Laura Duncan Rd., beginning and ending it's trips at Stop

16003, Laura Duncan Rd at Old Raleigh Rd (Northbound).

Labor Day Holiday Notice - GoApex Route 1 and GoApex Door to Door

GoApex Route 1 and GoApex Door to Door will not operate on Monday,
September 4th due to the Labor Day holiday.

Pardon our Paint - GoApex Bus Stop Sidewalk Art Project Installation begins

From August through October, local and North Carolina-based artists will be
painting art installations on the pavement at select GoApex bus stops as part
of the GoApex Bus Stop Sidewalk Art Project.

This project aims to enhance the pedestrian experience at bus stops, build
awareness for the GoApex Route 1 service, and provide an opportunity for
public art in Town.

Artists were selected through an open Call for Artists in Spring 2023, which
drew more entries than available art installation bus stops. There may be
minor impacts to some bus stops during installation.

Due to road closures on the Town Hall Campus during the Pride Festival on
Saturday, June 10th, GoApex Route 1 will not serve Stop #16000, Hunter Street
at Apex Town Hall Campus, and instead will travel directly from N. Mason St.
to Laura Duncan Rd., laying over at Stop #16003, Laura Duncan Rd at Old
Raleigh Rd (Northbound).

Due to road closures during the Juneteenth Festival in Downtown Apex on
Saturday, June 17th, GoApex Route 1 will not be able to serve N. Salem St in
downtown Apex. Instead, the bus will follow a detour routing with temporary
stops along Elm St. Detour information is below:

Please keep in mind that during detour events, the bus schedule may be
disrupted. We ask for your patience and understanding as the bus operator
works to provide safe service during this time.

Draft Bus Stop Improvement Policy out for Public Comment

Apex Town staff, in coordination with the Apex Transit Advisory Committee,
have drafted a GoApex Bus Stop Improvement
Policy to help guide future
improvements to bus stops. Please review and provide your
comments by June 5th, 2023.

The draft policy document establishes Standard Bus Stop improvements, and
Enhanced Bus Stop improvements. Under the proposed policy, all GoApex stops
would qualify for Standard Bus Stop improvements, while all stops would be
subject to qualification and prioritization to receive Enhanced Bus Stop
Improvements. See the table below for what items fall under Standard vs.
Enhanced Bus Stop improvements.

2022 Updates

Christmas Eve Holiday Notice - GoApex Route 1 and GoApex Door to Door

GoApex Route 1 and GoApex Door to Door will not operate on Saturday,
December 24th due to the Christmas Eve holiday.

Regional Transit Information Center Outage - Thursday, December 15th

Due to unforeseen maintenance, the GoTransit Regional Information Center phone
system, 919-485-RIDE (7433), is experiencing technical difficulties, and will
be down from approximately 11:30am to 1:30pm, today, Thursday, December 15th,
2022. During the maintenance period, The GoTriangle Regional Information
center can be reached via email at

Detour Notice - Apex Christmas Parade, Saturday, December 3rd

GoApex Route 1 will need to detour in the downtown area due to road closures
for the Apex Christmas parade from about 3pm to about 9pm on Saturday,

be located on Chatham Street and N Mason Street to reach the downtown area.

Thanksgiving Holiday Notice - GoApex Route 1 and GoApex Door to Door

GoApex Route 1 and GoApex Door to Door will not operate on Thursday,
November 28th due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The services will operate on
a normal schedule on Friday, November 29th, and Saturday, November 30th.

Bus Stop Closure Notice - North Mason Street near Apex Community Center

Beginning Monday, November 28th, 2022, Stop #1452, North Mason Street at Old
Mill Village Drive, northbound (across the street from the Town Community
Center) will be closed due to a construction project. A temporary stop will be
added (#16003) at Laura Duncan Rd at Old Raleigh Rd, about a block north. Stop

1452 will be closed until the construction project is complete.

Bus Stop Installation Update, November 2022

Benches and trash cans have just arrived for installation at select bus stops!

installed at select bus stops last month.

GoTriangle Route 305 - New Schedule starting Monday, August 8th

GoTriangle Route 305: Holly Springs-Apex to Raleigh will have an updated
schedule starting August 8th. This route operates between Holly Springs, Apex,
NC State, and Downtown Raleigh during weekday commute hours. The updated
schedule adds two trips to the route funded by the Wake Transit Plan, pushes
back start of service to 6:34am, and removes morning arrivals and evening
departures in Holly Springs. You can download the updated route brochure

GoApex Route 1 started service on Saturday, July 30th, 2022. The Town is
looking forward to offering this new, free service to the community, and we
hope you will hop on board!

Bus Stop Installation Project, Spring 2022

Beginning this Spring, the Town of Apex will construct bus stops for our new
transit service, GoApex Route 1. Route 1 is the Town's first local, free bus
service, starting July 30, 2022. Installation at each stop includes, at the
minimum, a bus stop sign and a level concrete pad for boarding and alighting
the bus. Some stops may also receive a bench, trash can, bike racks, light
fixtures, pavement markings, or additional concrete or sidewalk improvements.

Update : Concrete work is nearing completion! Installation of stop
amenities (benches, trash cans, and bike racks) will be delayed until after
service starts. Deliveries are now expected in late September.

GoApex Informational Pop-Up Events - Coming Soon

Apex Town staff will be out and about in Apex this summer to provide
informational materials and answer questions about GoApex Route 1. Feel free

Bus Stop Sidewalk Art Project - Public Survey Open

The Town of Apex is planning to bring sidewalk art to twelve new GoApex bus
stops in Spring 2023. We'd like to know what you want to see, as well as any
thoughts or concerns you may have about the project.

The Town plans to issue a Call for Artists in Fall 2022 with installation in
Spring 2023. A selection committee made up of members of the Town of Apex’s
Transit Advisory Committee, Public Art Committee, and Town Staff (Planning,
Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources, and Public Works) will review and
select the artists based on the survey results and applications received.
