We are moving forward with the Main Street Sidewalk Connection project, which will add a 1,125-linear-foot sidewalk from Arbor Creek Drive to Trellis Pointe, enhancing connectivity between neighborhoods and local amenities. Design work is currently underway, with construction expected to start in mid-2026 following final NCDOT approvals and right-of-way acquisition.

We are moving forward with an important project that will enhance our community's connectivity. We are in the process of adding a 1,125-linear-foot sidewalk along Main Street, which will create a vital link between the Arbor Creek and Bridgewater neighborhoods and the existing sidewalks at Trellis Pointe and the North Main Athletic Complex. This 5-foot-wide sidewalk will not only improve access to these areas but will also connect our downtown to parks, greenways, and local businesses. Currently, the design phase of this approximately $1.2 million project is underway, and we expect construction to begin in the 2024-2025 fiscal year. This timeline allows us to ensure that everything is in place for a smooth construction process. We are working closely with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to secure the necessary approvals and right-of-way acquisitions. Looking ahead, we anticipate final NCDOT approval and right-of-way acquisition to be completed by early 2026, with construction aimed to start by mid-2026.
